Down to the Harbor

I love love loved this shoot.

Every year we try to come up with something "different".

Reny totally nailed it.

They love the beach, and kayaking has become one of their favorite things to do. So we headed down to the harbor to where they keep their kayak and shot there.

It couldn't have been more perfect or more beautiful. I loved all the colors and different backdrops.

These pictures are too cute of Mommy and Daughter.

There are so many pictures to choose from so I only picked a few. I love working with this family each year for their Christmas pictures. They always keep me on my feet, and Reny is so creative it makes it really fun.

After a few weeks or so of emailing, cancellations, bad weather, and an ugly red tide we decided to take a chance and just go for it. The weather was perfect. It was the first non foggy late afternoon in what seemed like forever, and the red tide wasn't too bad at all. I'm glad we finally got together, and I love how this family's pictures turned out. I loved their Nautical attire. Too cute. Only a few as to not ruin any possible christmas pictures.

This was one of those shoots that I'm reminded why I like doing photography. I think we talked more then we took pictures. It's fun meeting new people especially when they live literally around the corner from you and they are as fun as Erica and her Husband. After going back and forth on what day to shoot and being worried about the weather we decided to chance it and stick with our original plans. Turns out we made the right decision. I couldn't have picked a better day to have Kelly's Mini Session.

Kelly, is a fellow photographer and has lived out here for a couple years. She wanted to get some pictures that she could look back on remembering California and the beach. Sadly, she is going back home and moving out of state to be back in her home town. She told me that she "hates'' being in front of the camera. I hope these pictures change her mind because she looks great.

Another Mini Session success. This family is one of my favorites. So easy to shoot and fun to hang out with. The kids didn't really want their pictures taken so I took a "life style" approach to this shoot. Not too many pictures sitting and smiling. Just tons of them being a family and loving on each other. I also got to meet their newest addition, who is fitting in just perfectly. I love the last shot of him and his Dad. Too sweet.

I had to add this picture below. I am loving this effect right now. I can't put my finger on why, but I like it and had to share.

Taking family pictures may seem very intimidating and grueling to most men. I've never been able to get a straight answer out of any man, but I am starting to think it's because they just think it's lame... and even though they might never admit it, they're a little embarrassed or even shy. Nonetheless, every time I get a client who claims their husband sooo did not want to get pictures taken, ends up thanking me with the end result. It never fails, after the fact, they always realize how special that moment was and are thankful they did it.

Danny so did not want his picture taken, I'm hoping to prove to him these pictures were all worth it. Hopefully he will thank his wife later or maybe even give her a....

The " Yurky's"

I love this family and all the fun we had during this shoot. It was raining most of the time... over cast and ugly skies, but you can't even tell by looking at the pictures. They had such a blast and the kids were totally excited to be playing in the rain.

I have a ton of pictures to edit. These mini sessions are giving me a run for my money. Thank you to all you wonderful clients who make all this possible for me.

PS. Not sure what happens when I upload pictures to blogger, but all my picture come out so dull. In real life they are a lot more crisp and have way better color. Just a little side note, because it drives me crazy!

A few weeks ago I was lucky to have a Newborn Session with a friend I used to play soccer with back in the day. Kym and her husband Andrew recently welcomed a new little man into their lives. I can tell from spending a few hours with them that they are such amazing parents and love their sweet baby boy so very much. This little guy was such stud and handled his photo shoot like a pro. I Love all these Newborn Sessions! Thanks again to Kym for letting me take pictures of your baby and to Andrew for smiling for the camera even with pee all over him.

This little guy was such a sweet baby. He hung out for a while and then finally fell asleep. I always love when we can take some pictures of the baby awake and then put them down for a nap and shoot some of them sleeping. To me that's a perfect "Newborn Session". Sometimes it doesn't always happen, but on this day it did. Special thanks to his Mama for being so patient and loving. She rocked him to sleep like a pro, of course she was covered in poop and pee, but it wouldn't have been a Newborn shoot without some of that.

My little girl is 11 months. I can't believe how old she is getting. It makes me excited that she is almost walking. I will love that she will be able to run around with my other kids instead of crawling on the ground gettin dirty and putting every little microscopic thing in her mouth.

I made these LOVE pictures for the grandparents on Valentines day. It was super easy adding the LOVE. I just added it in photoshop with a text I got from UrbanFonts.com. Then with the paint brush I added the little squiggles on the sides. There you have it, a perfect card for your special someone.

Senior Shots

Did I mention how easy Senior Portraits are? I love that I only have to focus on one person. It also makes it easy when you have a guy who doesn't hold back and has poise in front of the camera. Maybe it's because he's a baller and has confidence or maybe it's because he's just a cool guy. Whatever it was we had a great time walking around San Jaun Capistrano with his mom and sister. I love when my clients make my job that much easier.

Baby M's Mom called me last minute for a Holiday/Newborn shoot, how could I resist an 11 day old? Obviously I couldn't and I am glad I did it, because this couple was so awesome. What a great family. I love shooting their Christmas cards. I think this was the 4th year in a row. My how these kids have grown. This year they changed it up a bit and I liked it, its always fun to have the parents join in for the session.

We had this grand idea that Toni had seen in an Uggs add but the old wood yard was closed. Luckily we found this awesome bridge and it worked out perfectly. Next year we'll try the lumber yard.

I just shot a wedding a few weeks ago. It was craziness trying to get it edited in time considering all these babies I have running around. However I handled it and of course got it done on time. Dear clients or potential clients,

Thank you so much for your interest in Candice Brooke Photography. I have been so lucky to be able to do photography for a few years now and it has been such a blessing. I love creating memories that last for years to come with something as simple as a portrait. I have made life long friends through my business and have had awesome clients with such loyalty. You guys mean so much to me, and I am so grateful for getting the chance to be apart of your lives.

At this time I have to put my career on hold to be a mother to my 3 kids. This saddens me, because I love being a photographer, but also brings me much joy because I get to focus on my kids.

I hope that you understand and look for me in future. I am hoping to come back to work before 2011, but I can't promising anything. I will be updating my blog as much as I can and changing things around a bit. Ps. The colors on my pictures aren't turning out they way they really look. They aren't as vibrant. It's really fustrating, but at least my clients know when they see their pictures on here they might not be as colorful. Just a side note to onlookers.

This precious little girl gave us a run for our money. Her mom was hoping for some sleeping pictures, but she didn't even want to blink when I was there. The funny thing is that we got some great shots of her blinking which looks like she is sleeping, and they turned out great.

Plus she is so cute, that the eyes open pictures turned out amazing as well. Job well done after a few hours of breastfeeding, crying, begging, and pleading.

No these two aren't getting married. They are just high school sweethearts, who look like they could be on the cover of teen magazines. Even though this was an impromptu session with Preston (hence the basketball shorts) we got some great shots. Like I said before Kathryn will be using some of the shots for some commercial pictures she needed. I love the first shot, it's my favorite.

I took pictures of Katie a couple weeks ago for her Senior announcements and modeling headshots.

I have known her and her family for quite some time now and I can't believe how old she is.

What a beautiful young woman she has blossomed into.

This couple reminded me of a wedding back in the day, from her 60's style dress to his corduroy suit they looked amazing. I am trying to finish up their pictures soon, so I can start on the wedding I did last week, Melissa's Bridals, and Katie's Senior portraits.

Melissa and I met up on the beach to take her Bridals.

She will officially be a Mrs. this Saturday and I can't wait to shoot her wedding.

She is so beautiful and I was blown away by how great her pictures turned out.

I would post more, but I don't want to ruin the surprise or her dress...

so I will wait until after her wedding.

These 2 cuties joined me at the Pier to get some pictures for dad before he leaves, he's in the military. They are absolutely adorable and fun to play around with. Emily kept me laughing, she pretneded to be a dog for the first part of the shoot, then we had to bribe her for the last half of the shoot. It was worth it though. They got some great pictures.

I'm finished with Paige and Doug's pictures. I can't wait to see how their invites turn out. They had a great idea and I am just loving the end result. I don't want to spoil the surprise so after they send them out I will post it.

New bag of tricks

These last few weeks have been tons of fun for me and a lot of hard work. I have thrown myself back into photography and with that comes lots of editing time, babysitters, and craziness. Luckily for me I also was a able to do a mentoring session with one of my favorite people. Jessica Kettle of Jessica Kettle Photography came down from Utah to give me a new bag of tricks. Above are a few of the shots that I took from my session with her. They turned out amazing and I am feeling great about the new things I have learned. Thank you Jessica, you are amazing. The W family was so easy to shoot.

Both their kids were amazingly adorable and photogenic.

Their home was absolutely beautiful and full of fun for their 2 boys.

Mama W looked amazing for just having a 10 week old,

and Daddy W couldn't be any cooler while skateboarding with his little buddy.
